Commodore Brian Bailey
Joined CYC in the fall of 1978. He bought his San Juan 24 from Heider Funk who ran Raudaschl Sails and was first assigned a mooring rather than a dock. In 1982, we purchased a brand new Goman Express 30, designed by Steve Killing, to accommodate a family and still race!
Commodore – 1988 & 2005
Volunteered in many other positions on the board for many years – membership, treasurer, race director, lift master, vice & past commodore and planning committee.
Was responsible for donating the first “kitchen” to the yacht club. Brian arranged to bring the metal modular cupboards, sink and mini fridge from the executive office kitchen at Teledirect Company, the 53rdfloor of the TD Centre. It was installed in the area where the ice maker is and was the first kitchen.
Created computer software for the CYC. Wrote a full accounting system to track income, expenses, and membership. Also wrote a racing results program and provided CYC’s first computer to the yacht club building.
Brian’s words – He remembers that he had lots of meetings!
Brian enjoyed his time as Commodore, on the board, racing, and social events over many years.
